In Her Element: Louise at Bellambi Ocean Pool

For Louise, the ocean has always been her natural element. She grew up in Bowral, far from the coast, but her fondest memories begin with those family weekends by the sea — the sand between her toes, the sound of the waves, her dad helping build sandcastles.

“I can just remember the sand between my toes — it didn’t matter how much I washed it out. The sand was always there.”
It was during those childhood beach trips that her connection with the ocean began — a relationship built on play, presence, and awe. She still collects shells today, small reminders of those early moments of wonder and belonging.

When Louise returns to the beach now, it’s not just nostalgia that calls her — it’s the sense of calm and clarity the ocean brings.
“The beach inspires me. It helps me slow down and appreciate what’s going on around me — both in my life and in the environment.”

Her ritual is simple. She walks barefoot along the shoreline, lets the waves lap over her feet, and listens. Sometimes she brings a book. Other times, she just closes her eyes and breathes in the rhythm of the sea.
“I love the feel of the wet sand between my toes and the sound of the waves. It’s grounding — it reminds me to slow down and take a minute for myself.”
Louise’s approach to beauty mirrors this simplicity. She doesn’t wear makeup or fuss over polish; she prefers the honesty of natural skin and windswept hair.
“Just like the beach, I like to keep it simple. I take in my inner beauty — I don’t feel the need to cover it.”
Her essentials are few: sunscreen, water, and time. The kind of time that’s not measured by productivity, but by presence.
And when asked what advice she’d give to someone wanting to reconnect with nature, her answer is as gentle as her rituals:
“Start small. Take a walk. Sit on the sand. Close your eyes and just listen to what’s going on around you.”
